1st US. 230 pp. Appears to be the 1st (scarce) American edition, Vol. II (of 2) only. Fascinating reading, detailed journals with information on society, manners, industry, mining systems, free trade, slaves, earthquakes, marriage customs, some natural history, volcanos, religion, etc., as well as winds, weather and navigation. The Capt. visits Coquimbo, Guasco, Copiapo,, Peru (Lima), Guayaquil, Panama, Taboga, Acapulco, Tepic, San Blas and passes the Galapagos, which he discusses in a number of places. Includes a table of long. & lat. of places he visited. Buff paper boards are darkened and worn, spine label present, spine tips chipped away, backstrip joints cracking. Interior has quite a bit of foxing, 1826 owner inscription on title, pages trimmed erratically at bottom edge, page 5/6 is missing bottom corner not affecting text, otherwise clean and sturdy.; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
