155 pp + 8 plates. Index. Bibliography. Extensive footnotes. Very scarce, this biography of Catalani was undertaken by the author upon the latter's discovery that Catalani was an ancestor and further that a number of relevant papers were in the family possession. "Vicenzo Catalani, patriot of the Neapolitan Revolution, jurist, legal scholar, humanist, educator, parliamentarian, and moral philosopher, was born on January 26, 1769 in the small town of Fiumara di Muro not too distant from the ancient city of Reggio Calabria. It is an interesting coincidence that this great admirer of the French Revolution should have been born in the same year as Napoleon Bonaparte, its most outstanding exponent." Catalani's essay on vaccination is a plea to mothers to ignore the anti-vaccinationists and have their children inoculated against smallpox. Hard paper boards with a portrait of Catalani on the fc. Boards are a bit worn, some rubbing. Interior is clean and bright, hinge is starting at the half title, otherwise sturdy and nice. ; Small 8vo
