Steinkamp, Jr.?) "To Mrs. H. Lerner the Slayer of Lions from a Boer, Capetown 1937". Helen Lerner was the wife of Michael Lerner, founder of Lerner's Dept. Stores. Both Lerners were avid hunters and fishermen, they founded the Int'l Game Fish Assoc., were photographed with Hemingway and their work on fish and fishing is part of the collection of the American Natural History Museum. A very scarce first hand account of big-game hunting in a vanished Africa, by a renowned explorer and hunter (Hungary issued a stamp in Szechenyi's honor on the centenary of his birth, 1988). Black cloth cover is a little rubbed at corners, spine tips. Scattered very light foxing. Last blank has a corner missing and a small pencil eraser-size stain, otherwise good. ; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
