li + 309 pp + ads and 380 pp + ads. Red and black double title pages , one showing a medieval monk examining a manuscript and the other the Roman wolf suckling the twins. Double page plate showing fol 3 of the manuscript, historiated initials and decorations throughout, beautiful laid watermarked paper with deckle edges. Two volumes bound in brilliant red cloth with crown and acorn leaves in gilt to front covers, gilt to spines and gilt escutcheon with "A bon seny no hi val Engany" on the rear boards. Spines a little faded, bit of wear at spine tips, short tear at bottom of vol I, starting to split at top joints on both volumes, some scuffing and wear to covers, back of Vol. II has some humidity staining. Both have owner inscrip and date on first fly, some foxing throughout especially near the plate and pages with red & black, otherwise clean, unmarked, solid binding. Traduccio Catalana del XIV Segle per Frare Antoni Canals, ara per primera Volta Estampada Segons el Codex del Consell de Cent Barceloni per R. Miquel Y Planas. Antonio Canales (1352-1419) was a Catalan Dominican of whom few works survive except his translatio into Catalan of Dictorum factorumque memorabilium of Valerius Maximus.
