viii + 270 pp + table. In French. Beautifully bound with half leather, brown leather spine with gilt and 4 raised bands, marbled boards. Boards and spine have just a bit of wear, corners have a little rubbing. Interior has very light bit of humidity staining at the top edge of the first and last few pages and occasionally throughout, an occasional light pencil underlining, otherwise clean and tight. Scarce edition, beautifully bound and produced with wide margins. Denis was a Christian artist, greatly influenced at the time of writing by Gauguin, and his theories about the planes in painting would strongly influence in their turn the Cubists and Fauvists. ; 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall
