Illus with color plate showing a diphtheritic patch in mucuous membrane, beginning coagulation-necrosis of the epithelium; Croup of mucous membrane; and Diphtheritic eschar. Very scarce report on Dr. Heubner's attempts to find the causes and the cure for diphtheria, which at the time was a viscious killer of infants. His report won a prize from German Empress-Queen Augusta. Slim attractive volume in dark brown pebbled coth with gilt to spine and front cover. Spine tips frayed, spine has library numbers. Interior flowered Victorian endpapers have library association plate (dated Oct. 1894), copyright page has library stamp, last blank has a few small marks, otherwise clean and unmarked. A nice copy of a very hard to find medical report.; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
