xi, 250 pp. Second Impression October 1944. With the scarce dust jacket. The great manifesto against the central planning state, of capitalism vs. socialism, of the individual against the collective. Written as the rise of the state following the Great Depression and WWII seemed overwhelming. In first edition, 2nd issue. The book is in good minus condition, dust jacket is fair. The DJ is early and probably original to the book, as it contains the $2.75 price (and is NOT price clipped). It has a number of chips and lacks and has an overall slightly rippled effect . It is protected in a Brodart cover. The book covers are clean and unmarked, front cover has a faint bow which is oddly not unusual for this titleand some fading at the top edge. Interior first free endpaper has a gift inscription dated October 1944 from Joseph M. Dodge, Chairman of the Detroit Bank and the economic advisor to U.S. General MacArthur in Japan after WWII. Some early book seller notes (in pencil). Pages are clean and unmarked, there is a very faint ripple to the pages but no other signs of damage (no stains, humidity marks, odors, etc.). Last two pages of the index have corner turned up. Priced low to reflect the defects. Nice provenance. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 250 pages
