Small octavo. [284] ff. Two columns, Gothic type, woodcut colophon to last leaf with printer information and date xxi Marti 1495. Contemporary limp vellum with a wonderful dark patina, remains of old ties, yapp edges which are a bit worn and chipped, some repairs to vellum, spine renewed long ago, 3 raised bands and hand-written title, old but probably not original endpapers, blanks are old but probably not original. Title page and next few pages have repairs to upper corner margin, top edge trimmed quite close occasionally clipping off the top of the titles, the occasional small age mark but otherwise quite clean and sturdy though obviously read and used. A collection of late medieval sermons collected or written by Konrad Gritsch, a Franciscan Conventual friar from Germany between 1440 and 1440, (Pietro Delcorno). The collection first circulated in manuscript form under the name of Konrad's younger brother Johan, himself a cleric and doctor in canon law at Basel. A late medieval bestseller, Gritsch's Quadregesimale was issued in 24 incunable editions, of which this was the 21st. The popularity of the work is shown in this copy, a handy size for traveling, with a rich patina from many devout hands. A nice copy. ISTC ig0050600. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall
