Xv, 437, [3] pp. Index, chronology, bibliography. Frontis portrait of Jane, 2 folding genealogy charts before the index. Octavo. Red and black title. Dark red original cloth with blind ruling, gilt title and gilt facs Austen signature, spine gilt. Covers have a bit of rubbing at extremities, spine little faded. Interior has two interesting owner marks, one the stamp of C. R. Councer, a member of the Kent Archeological Society and a medieval stained glass expert; and the other the signature of Charles William Previté-Orton, a British medieval historian. The book is quite nice and clean. At the rear there are some light pencil notes in the bibliography, whether made by either of the former owners we don't know. A good copy of this family biography, with some nice medieval English provenance! This was printed the first year of issue, also printed by Murray in London and in New York. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 437 pages
