43 pp, [10] ff, 413, 448 pp, [14] ff. The title page has the date and the Estienne/Stephanus printer's mark, with no location or printed publisher. This book is bound in full vellum leather, measuring 3" x 5", it is a 16mo (in 8s) . OCLC 179982194. The leather is rubbed at the corners, a beverage ring on the front cover, 4 raised bands at the spine. Interior there are no pastedowns. The endpapers are old paper manuscript (possible part of a letter? ) with some additional notes in a different hand. One of the blanks has the name "James Rogers" written a number of times, probably contemporary. Both first and last "blanks" are thinned and have a slight hole. Title page is a bit darkened and has another name in Latin at the top. Otherwise, except for normal expected aging, the pages are clean and unmarked. Quite an attractive and jolly little copy. This important edition comes from one of the foremost early printing houses in Europe, the House of Stephanus, famed for handsome printing and scholarly erudition. Includes the famous Estienne printer's device on the title page. This near 1000 page 1591 Stephanus edition, in fact, is among their first to include the comments of the classical scholar and philologist Isaac Causabon, called "the most learned man in Europe." ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall
